Ottawa Sun Editorial

And, via the aforementioned cbcwatch, a CBC lockout editorial from the Ottawa Sun called When nobody looks. Though it might be easy to shrug it off and say, "Those conservatives just don't get Canadian public broadcasting," much of the editorial rings troublingly true to my ears.

    Hi Dan,

Good catch. Yes, a lot of that rings true to my ears too. As much as I would LOVE a full-time job at CBC for the rest of my life, I really don't expect the mothercorp to hand it to me.

I guess I'm of the generation which, like the article says, has a series of projects in one's career, not the expectation of one job for life.

However, I do also support the folks who are out on the line now... that "job for life" is what they signed on to and it's important that they receive it. (In fairness, the CBC's offer doesn't take away any permanent employee's permanent status. If you're perm now, you'll always be.)

One MASSIVE error in the article, though, suggests that taxpayers pay $2 billion for the CBC. That is so untrue it deserves a retraction. The actual figure is $950 million or so. Quite the difference.
